Katrien Luijkx
Katrien Luijkx is Professor of Elderly Care by Special Appointment (Nov 2013-now) and senior researcher and research manager of the Academic Collaborative Center Elderly (Sept 2004-now) at Tranzo Scientific Center for Care and Welfare of Tilburg University in the Netherlands. From the endowed chair Elderly Care, cooperation between Tilburg University and ten organizations in elderly care is developed in a research program and knowledge sharing.
In her research Katrien aims to contribute to person-centered elderly care and has a special interest in the experiences and lifeworld of elderly. As a supervisor with a background in the social sciences, she is involved in research about different aspects of aging, such as access to elderly care, technology acceptance, integrated care, intimacy and sexuality in nursing homes, autonomy and independence.
Katrien holds a Master in Social Sciences from Utrecht University (1995) and a Ph.D. from Wageningen University & Research Centre (2001), the Netherlands.
